Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen to Film in New Mexico
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is heading back to the desert, specifically Almaogrodo, New Mexico. New Mexico's Governor Bill Richardson announced the return of the giant robots in a statement made to the local news outlet KVIA News.
"Transformers was a huge success and I am pleased that Dream Works, Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay have decided to return to New Mexico to film the second installment," said Governor Richardson.
The film has been in pre-production in Alamogordo since April, and expects to begin filming in the fall.
Directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Matthew Marsden and Andrew Howard, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is scheduled for a June 26, 2009 release date.

... While Bay was accepting his MTV popcorn award, he mentioned Transformers 2, saying, "We're starting Transformers [2] tomorrow (June 1st)."
Reports were that filming was already underway for Transformers 2 in Los Angeles, so Bay is obviously referring to the shoot scheduled to begin tomorrow at the former Bethlehem Steel site in Bethlehem, PA. Filming activity is set to include "military helicopters, large scale pyrotechnics, prop guns and squibs, and large lights."
The Morning Call confirms that one of the movie’s opening scenes will be shot at the site and that gigantic Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces will be featured. Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan said that over three nights a film crew will shoot the scene, which is the setting for a fictional Chinese city.
It seems like the entire shoot will just be of explosions and the like, because none of the human actors -- returning stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro -- will be on set and the Transformers themselves will be added in later as CG animation.
I start Transformers 2 today.. !! Directed by Michael Bay Executive Produced by Steven Spielberg I'm beyond exited!!!!!! Big actions scenes we have to shoot.

Last night I was in the unforgiving desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico, on a set visit for this unique religious horror flick, Legion, which stars Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, Willa Holland and Tyrese Gibson. Tyrese was one of the gracious stars kind enough to chat with us between takes and besides chatting about that current film, he had a few things to say about some other projects, one of which, might have him pitying the proverbial fool.
That's right. Tyrese told us that he is very close to landing the role of B.A. Baracus in John Singleton's remake of The A-Team. While he still hasn't officially signed on for the part, and he noted that the script is still being developed, the genial actor was obviously enthusiastic about the project.
While he wouldn't say much about the upcoming Transformers 2 he'll be working on, he gave us a heads up on another project he is apparently involved with.
"Look out for a film called Desert Eagle," he told us. He was on his way to the set and couldn't divulge any more details about that film and what his involvement may be.
He also gave us some info on a brand new fan number he has set up. You can call ( 818 ) 287-8968 to leave a personal message for Tyrese and he will get back to you when he's available.
